In 2014 CEFS carried out a study to assess the environmental footprint of beet sugar sourced in the European Union.

This study helped identify the environmental hotspots of EU beet sugar production from field to factory. The conclusions are particularly relevant in view of the future application of the Environmental Footprint Methodology as developed by the European Commission.

In order to present the results of the 2014 study graphically, CEFS has produced an accompanying brochure entitled "Assessing the impacts of EU sugar production - and what we learned about life-cycle assessment".

You can read the full brochure here.
