The unjustified negative perception of agriculture and primary processing, restrictions on seed varieties, limitations on plant protection products, obstacles to irrigation, the opening up of the EU market to third country imports and decreased world market prices,.. the challenges are abundant. Marie-Christine pleads for proactively defending agriculture and primary food processing via notably the Agriculture and Progress Platform, a joint platform between CEFS, CIBE and the European Maize Producers. The Platform wants to put innovation at the heart of agriculture. It pleads for an appropriate framework for NBTs, preservation of pelleted seeds, and a sustainable use of plant protection products as part of the larger agriculture toolbox whilst correcting the distorted view of agriculture.
